Duathlon Bike Route Recce Ride - Sunday April 5th

Hereford Duathlon Bike Recce Ride - Sunday April 5th - Whitecross School - 9.15am start. We're organising a led bike ride of the duathlon route for anybody who wants to try it out before the race. Everybody is welcome, it will be at the pace of the slowest rider so, don't worry, nobody will be left on their own. It's a social ride to help boost people's confidence. Thanks to Mike Parry for assisting. Please let us know here if you're hoping to make it.

Well done to Eliot Taylor, Nicky Turvey, James Richards and Iain Darwood who were all selected as part of the GB age group team for last weekend's standard and sprint distance world championships in Edmonton, Canada.

Next month, Alison Turner, Celia Speake, Joyce Warburton, Simon Norwood and Nicola Goodwin will be representing the GB age group team at the European middle distance championships in Majorca.

A huge thank you to all of the people who helped us to make today's race go so smoothly.  We are very grateful to Halo Leisure, Matt and the team at Leominster Leisure Centre and Paul and the team at Earl Mortimer College who stepped in at short notice and allowed us to transfer the race to our new venue.  As ever with a new course there were a few things which need tweaking and, in particular, we're aware that the swim was a bit busy for some of you. Apologies and we'll do our best to solve this for next year.

We'd also like to thank our amazing team of marshals who give up their time year in, year out to assist.  Not only to our members but to our friends and family members who, once again, keep smiling and helping you to have a great race. In particular, thanks to Stef for doing the results for us.   The results are below, just click to download them.  Many thanks and we hope to see you all back next year.

Triathlon Venue Changes

Our annual Sprint Triathlon will now take place at Leominster Leisure Centre. We made the decision to move the race from Lucton School as, due to some limitations on the school site this year, we weren't able to guarantee the safety of all of the competitors, spectators and marshals. Thanks to Halo Leisure, Earl Mortimer College and the team at the Kings' Head in Docklow, the race will still go ahead on Sunday July 6th and we think it will be better than ever.  All of the information that you need is now on the triathlon pages and we look forward to welcoming you all to Leominster.  We are still taking entries to the race until Sunday June 29th and the start list will be on the website from Monday June 30th.  Please contact us if you've got any questions. Thanks, Hereford Triathlon Club

Duathlon - Run Route Update

We've been to recce the course tonight and the run route is dry and firm underfoot. The final half a mile of each lap will bring you back along footpaths through farmland. It's a nicer route than the alternative along the main road but it is slightly shorter than advertised. The first runs will be 2.6 (beginners) or 4.7 miles and the final lap is 2.2 miles. If the weather causes any problems we'll let you know on race day.  Please remember, the race is run according to the British Triathlon Rules so have a look on the BTF website if you need to remind yourselves of them. See you on Sunday

Fancy volunteering?

It's a busy weekend for many club members. Good luck to Michael Stephens and Mike Parry who are doing the final assessment for the Level One coaching award tomorrow and well done to Ian Rivers who passed his award last weekend. Kylie Mansfield , Ian Price , Marion Mogg and Nicola Goodwin also spent today on the Triathlon England Local Technical Officer's course in Bromsgrove. There's lots of opportunities for people to qualify as coaches or race officials or to do workshops to become bike or run leaders. Funding is available. As the club gets bigger we're keen to encourage as many people as possible to help out. Just ask any of the committee members if you're interested.

Duathlon update

Thanks to all of you who have entered the Hereford Duathlon. The good news is that much of the bike route is being resurfaced now so there should be relatively few potholes to avoid. We're confident that the field section of the run route will be dry by race day but if the situation changes we will alter the course to take out the field section and bring the runners down 3 Elms Road instead.  We'll let everybody know if there is a change on race day.  Entries will close on Monday April 7th or once the race is full. We don't accept entries on the day so please don't leave it too late!
